Scunci Rebrands The Topsy Tail

Conair Topsy Tail You might have a hard time finding the Scunci Topsy Tail on our website going forward, that's because Scunci has decided to move the ever-popular styling tool over to the Conair brand as part of a new lineup of hairstyle kits that will include the Perfect Ponytailer, Modern Updo Pin and eventually a new Magic Bunmaker kit.

The new Conair Topsy Tail can be seen here in its new bright purple box.  We just sold the last of our Scunci Topsy Tails, so if you're looking for the old version, you will be automatically redirected to the new version.

There is no difference between the two Topsys, both kits include the original Topsy Tail as well as the smaller Topsy Tail Jr along with three elastics and an instruction booklet with a dozen great hairstyle ideas.

Scunci Bear Claws Being Discontinued

Scunci Bear Claw Yes, it's true, the wildly popular Scunci Bear Claw clip is being retired.  The news came yesterday as we tried to order more of the large size bear claws.  Scunci's response, "no longer available."

While I can't say the news came as a surprise, as the bear claw is now well over 10 years old and hasn't been readily available in stores for quite some time, we still always like to think that we're selling enough of them here online for Scunci to keep making them.

But it appears that is not the case, as the large size bear claws are now gone from both our inventory and Scunci's.  This is a pretty big blow for us as well, bear claws have always been in our top 10 best selling items, right behind the Topsy Tail.

Fortunately the Jumbo Bear Claw clips ARE still available and we have more on the way to us.  Over the next couple weeks, we'll be beefing up supplies to make sure we can meet the demand, as I expect that the jumbos demise will not be far behind their slightly smaller cousin.

Also in doubt, the small size Bear Claw 3pk, which also has disappeared from store shelves recently.  No official word from Scunci on either of these two remaining items.

So in a nutshell, if you've got thick, curly hair and you're a fan of the Bear Claw, NOW IS THE TIME TO ORDER!  We do still have the 3pk in stock, those are available today.  The jumbo claws are on order and will be here late next week.  We don't have official word that they're discontinued, but based on what I know of Scunci, it likely won't be long.  I'd stock up now.

Do You Blog? Send Us An Email!

Do you blog?  Do you love hair accessories?  Would you jump up and down if you could blog about hair accessories?  If so, then we'd love to talk with you!

We're currently seeking female bloggers to help us review products and flesh out the content on our hair accessory blog.  We're not quite sure yet if this is a paying gig or not, but it would definitely involve having free run of our store to sample and write about our nearly 300 items.

If this sounds like something you would be interested in, drop us a line and let us know.  We're looking for experienced bloggers only, so please reference some of your current work, including any recent product reviews you may have done.  We're looking to have exclusive content for this blog, but you'd also be welcome to post similar content on your blog as well.

Our only requirement is that you must be absolutely bonkers for hair styles, hair fashions and of course, hair accessories.  So if you have a drawer or dresser full of Scunci, Goody or Conair items, or your bathroom is littered with them, and you're a blogger, you should already be clicking that "drop us a line" link up there!

New Product Alert: Scunci Bendini

Scunci Bendini now in stock Well you should've seen this one coming (especially since I gave you the head's up last week) but the Scunci Bendini's have arrived!  We received four cases of them, three in the Scunci line and one Scunci Girl.  As expected, each have three color options, so there are 12 in all.

While I haven't had a chance to test them out yet (but probably will today) I can say from examining them that they do indeed look pretty cool.  They're a little bigger than they appear in the picture, measuring from 1-1/4 inches for the girls version all the way up to 2-3/4 inches for the large one seen here.  That said, they are still very light, although the filigree versions are notably heavier.

Using a Bendini is just like our YouTube Video shows, you just slide the comb part into your hair, then flip the jeweled part over to 'snap' it in place.  Easy enough.

And speaking of jewels, for Scunci, these are pretty elaborate.  I don't know if our photos do them justice or not, but they're actually quite attractive pieces.  For the girls, they're of course cute, with pink, purple and a rainbow version, but for the women, they're silver, bronze, pewter and a mix of other colors that are pretty unique looking.  I'm sure you'll get some comments from friends and coworkers when you wear one. They really are high fashion jewelry at a bargain price of just $3.99.

Well I think that's it for now. I'm gonna go put one on and see how it looks today!  Click on the picture and order some for yourself. They're all in stock now.

Scunci Bendini Coming Soon!

Scunci Bendini Have you seen the latest hair accessory trend from Scunci?  It's called the Bendini, a brand new take on the traditional side comb.  Scunci is calling it "High Fashion Hair Jewelry" and it really is. They're beautiful side combs in a unique bent shape. To use them, you simply slide the comb into your hair then snap the jeweled part in place.  They're calling it "bend and snap," pretty cool!

The Bendini is currently available in three varieties, a large one seen here, along with a smaller two-pack and a filigree model that's simply gorgeous.  Each of these three flavors is available in multiple colors including black, tortoise, gold and silver.

Scunci Girl BendiniThere's also a Bendini in the Scunci girl line, which comes in three fun color combinations as well.

I just placed an order for all four Bendini's, and we should have them in stock and ready to buy in about 1-2 weeks if all goes well.  I just wanted to give everyone an advance look at what'll sure to be hot this spring and summer.

The Bendini will retail for just $3.99, a great price given how unique this item is.  I was expecting them to come in at $4.99, so this is a pleasant surprise.  Thanks Scunci.

Scunci was kind enough to make a video for the Bendini, and we just added it to our YouTube channel if you want to take a closer look and see how they work. There are a lot of different hairstyles you can make with these little guys.  Let us know if you have any questions or comments.  Look for all of the Bendini's soon at the Hair Flair Boutique.

Updo Hairstyles With The Scunci UpZing

I get a lot of questions about the Scunci UpZing and how you actually use it to make an easy updo hairstyle. And I have to admit, when you look at the UpZing with all it's crisscrossing elastics, it does seem to be a little intimidating.  Fortunately Scunci has made a quick video, which is also posted on our YouTube Channel, that walks you through creating an quick updo in about 10 seconds.  So I guess looks can be deceiving, and the UpZing is not quite as confusing as it appears in the package.

UpZings are available in a number of options.  There are plain elastic and also elegant beaded UpZings.  Both of these come in both medium and large sizes.  And both of those come in black and brown, and in the case of the beaded UpZings, also in silver/clear depending on size.  Got it?  If not, take a look at our UpZing page and it all makes sense.   There is certainly an UpZing for every taste.

UpZings work for all hair types, although I wouldn't recommend the large size for those with thin or fine hair. For those with thick and curly hair, the large is definitely the one you want.

If you've used an UpZing, left us a comment below and let us know how it works.

High End Decorative Jawclip From Conair

Conair Decorative Jawclip

Ok, who here has a brush, curling iron or hair dryer made by Conair? Just about all of us.  Now, who here has some stylish hair accessories from Conair?  Thought so, hardly any of us.

Conair is mostly known for their small appliances and grooming products, but as they continue to integrate their acquisition of Scunci, they've been coming out with a bunch of new items under the Conair label that sadly aren't getting a lot of exposure in stores.

Case in point, this Decorative Jaw Clip. This has to be one of the most intricate jaw clips we carry. It measures in at 3 inches long and is pretty hefty in weight, but includes a beautiful pattern of copper and bronzed colored designs topped off with rhinestones for an added kick of flair.

As I mentioned, this jaw clip is on the heavy side, so I wouldn't recommend it for those with thin or fine hair. But for those with super thick and curly hair, this is the clip you'll want to make a bold and unique statement.

We've seen this clip at a few Scunci outlets retailing for a whopping $12.99 and above.  We opt'd to sell it for just $9.99 so more women would be willing to give it a try.  Conair may be known for curlers and brushes, but they did a good job on this most fanciful of jaw clips.

Are you a fan of high end hair accessories?  Let us know in the comments section.

Butterfly Hair Clips Just In Time For Spring

Scunci Butterfly JawclipJust in time for the warmer weather (which we're told is coming right after this next big winter storm) the Scunci's Butterfly Jawclip is making its debut at the Hair Flair Boutique.

While not the first butterfly inspired hair accessory in our store, this clip is the biggest measuring 3 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. It comes in the usual black and tortoise colors, but also this unique tan color with a speckled finish, a new color in the Scunci line.

Making this clip even more special is the fact that it uses Scunci's No-Slip Grip technology, which is a strip of sticky gel on the inside of the clip which helps grip your hair and helps the clip stay put longer. No-Slip Grip is available on a wide range of Scunci products, but this the first time we've seen it on a clip that's so decorative.

If you're a butterfly fan, and who isn't, I've compiled all of our butterfly hair accessories right here.  We've got quite a few butterfly options, from barrettes and snap clips for girls to jaw clips and bobby pins the rest of us.

Let us know what you think of our butterfly hair accessories, leave a comment below.
